Trips vs Vacations
This year we took our first real vacation with the boys. After this "vacation" we have decided that if the kids are with us it is a trip not a vacation. We had a ton of fun but I felt like I needed a vacation after we got back after our trip. We went to Table Rock lake in Missouri with 2 other couples. We rented a house there that was nicer than the house that we live in and one of the other couples brought their new really, really nice boat. We spent most of every day on the boat. The weather was very hot the entire time we were there so we did a lot of swimming and jumping off of the boat. Robb got some wakeboarding in and Caleb even attempted to water ski. I was so proud of the boys, they had no fear when it came to the water. They were champs at jumping off the boat with life jackets of course. They even came up with fancy names for their jumps. It was fun to have some time with just the boys, but we missed Abby terribly. Almost everyday Caleb would say "Why did we take a vacation without Abby? I miss her so much.". I felt the same way! I missed having her around so much I was ready to go home only a couple of days after we got there but I got through it and Abby did fine in Norfolk. She made her way around Norfolk while she was there. She stayed with the Lutz's, my mom, aunt Steph and aunt Ginger. Everyone told us she was good which is surprising because she is usually a bit ornery but she is so darn cute that she gets away with it.

Party Time!
I am so behind on blogging! Our June has been crazy this year. Bryce and Caleb, our little boys, turned 4 on June 14. We had a kid party and a neighborhood barbecue the Friday before their birthday. They have really started to love parties so they have been helping us plan it for months now. Bryce wanted a Spiderman theme, which was easy to pull off. Caleb on the other hand wanted motorcycles so we ended up ordering all his plates and napkins. Oh well, we have always tried to make sure that they feel like two separate little people so this was one way we could do that. The neighborhood party went great! Luckily, we got good weather. I was vey HOT, but at least it wasn't raining. We had a really good turn out and everyone had a good time. This year I had decided that I would attempt the cakes. This turned out to be quite the venture but all in all it was fun. The boys got a lot of squirt guns as gifts so an all out water fight broke out between the kids and the dads after the present opening.
Crazy us, we had decided that we would do two parties this year so the family party was on Sunday. We did make it a little easier on ourselves by having the same menu but still it was a tiring weekend. We were a little panicked Sunday morning because a lot of Norfolk and the surrounding areas were getting so much rain that the roads were flooding. All of our family had to take alternate routes to get to Lincoln. We never expected that people would have trouble getting to Bryce and Caleb's party in June, maybe Abby's which is in January. Thanks everyone for going out of your way to get to the party. It meant a lot to all of us. It was so fun to see great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It was a fun relaxing day and the boys ended up getting showered with a ridiculous amount of gifts. They loved them all and stayed busy for days playing with all their new stuff.
Robb and I decided that the boys were out growing their trikes and they needed bigger bikes, so we decided that we would get them their first real bikes this year. We waited until just a couple days before their party to put them together and hid them in the basement storage area with a blanket over top. Wouldn't ya know, Caleb found them one day. He was looking for one of his balls that went in the storage area and he came running upstairs all excited that their was a dirt bike in his basement. Robb and I were pretty disappointed that they found their gifts but they loved them so I guess that is what counts. Bryce got a spiderman bike and Caleb got one that looks like a dirt bike.
Now I have to spend just a minute being a little sentimental. It is so hard to believe that our babies are 4 years old. We never could have imagined 4 years ago how these two little boys would change our lives! We made it through the every 3 hour feedings, the teething, walking, and potty training and now they are little boys not babies anymore. Where does the time go!

Memorial Weekend
We didn't have any grand plans for this Memorial weekend but it was fun all the same. On Friday Robb only worked half a day so we started our weekend off a little early. I love it when he comes home early! It is so nice to have 2 against 3 instead of me against them. Abby and Robb went shopping at Sams to stock up on meat for the upcoming birthday parties and the boys and I headed to Toys R Us to get a gift for cousin Brook. It was pretty funny shopping wiht 2 little boys and trying to buy a little girl gift. They kept saying "are we done in the pink aisle yet?". We did manage to get a girly gift and Robb managed to get the Sams shopping done with a crabby Abby.
Saturday was a fun day. It was nice and hot so we got out the pool and the slip n slide and had a water day. I even went down the slip n slide once. I bet that was a sight! Robb put 40lbs of meat on the grill to smoke for the boys upcoming birthday party. I ran some errands to pick of some more kids shorts and sundresses at the Carters in Gretna and also picked up party supplies and cake making supplies. I will keep you updated on how my cake making/decorating goes. I decided that it was time to learn how since we are having 2 parties and both Bryce and Caleb will want a cake for each party. Therefore we need 4 cakes. Hopefully I can figure it out and they aren't terribly disappointed with the results.
Sunday we woke up early and headed to Norfolk for my niece, Brook's birthday party. Silly me, I assumed that it was supposed to be another nice day so the boys were dressed in shorts and t shirts and Abby was in a sundress. To our suprise it was only high 50's when we got to Norfolk! So Robb and I made a quick dash to Shopko and scoured the clearence racks for something warm in their size. Needless to say their wasn't much left for coats and pants, so our children looked like big nerds. They had a great time at Brooks party. My sister and brother in law live on an acrege so there was a bunny to play with and baby guineas to see and of course cows and dogs to look at as well. All the kids had fun playing together and did suprisingly well without naps. Since we were in Norfolk we took advantage of the grandparents a little and finished the boys birthday shopping while we had a free babysitter. Thanks Bob, Susie and Andy. We left at bedtime to avoid all the crabbing that comes with 3 children in the car and I must say it was nice to have 2 hours of silence from the kids where Robb and I could actually have a conversation without getting interupted a million times.
On Monday, Robb worked half a day and the kids and I just had a lazy morning. In the afternoon we went the the neighborhood BBQ and the kids played with the neighbor kids in the bounce house. I finally got Robb to give in and we went to Sears to look at refrigerators. Our garage fridge broke this last week, and although we have only had it for about 4 months I can't live without it. Three gallons of milk in the fridge at one time just takes too much room, especially when our fridge is small to begin with. I am very excited, my new side by side fridge with water in the door will be delivered on Saturday. So per the agreement, if I got a new fridge I would finish staining the playground. So guess how I spent the rest of my Monday? Oh well, Robb did do 90% of the staining so I guess it was my turn.
Like I said, we didn't do anything too spectacular but it was still a fun weekend. We had some fun and got a few things accomplished.
