Steph and Lester's Wedding

We couldn't be more thrilled to be welcoming Lester into the family! We first met Lester at the lake house when Steph brought him to the boys birthday party. The second time we met him was when Steph brought him along as the muscle to help us move our family of 6 to our new house. Needless to say, it was a very long and very tiring day. Through it all he was a trooper. Over the last couple of years we have got to know him and Korbin better and Robb is always excited if Lester is going to be at a family function so he has someone to talk to. Steph has been a strong willed and hard working woman that has done it on her own for so long that it was hard for her to settle down because she didn't really Need anyone. Lester is a great other half to my sister! He handles the strong willed Steph with grace and is the calm in the storm at times. She also compliments his personality. She encourages him to stand up for himself and to do things that make him happy. We are so happy for them both. Cheers to a wonderful life together!

The wedding was Sept 27. Their venue was their friends horse ranch outside of Norfolk. A bit of a risky and bold move considering the time of year but Steph had a picture in her head how things were going to go and no one not even the weather was going to stop her. I was fortunate enough to be able to take the week off prior to the wedding and spent it in Norfolk helping her get ready. We got manicures and pedicures, finalized last minute details and took all of the decorations out to the venue. The day before we were able to set up the large tents and get the tables set up. It was a ton of work to transform an empty field into an amazing wedding venue. But if anyone could do it, it is Steph. She was super organized and had every detail planned.
The day of the wedding the weather held out for the most part. It started to very lightly sprinkle about 10 minutes before  the ceremony but it only lasted a few minutes and it added to the effect. The wedding was set back in a wooded cove and was gorgeous. In Steph's words she was 36, and paying for this wedding so she was going to do whatever she wanted. She truly had a vision in mind and it was a vision to make her happy and after talking with her it turned out just how she had hoped. Her dress was amazing and they looked happy and stunning.

It is always interesting getting our crew all dressed up but I think we did okay. Robb was a groomsmen, I was the maid of honor and Emmy was the flower girl. Caleb had a really hard time understanding why I was crabby about him playing tackle football in his dress clothes.

Susie made Emmy's dress and it was about the cutest thing ever. Steph wanted it to look Audrey Hepburn like so it was a black tutu dress and she had on pearls and sunglasses. She has been excited to be in this wedding for an entire year now! She looked adorable and she was the perfect flower girl.

Emmy and Weston couldn't have been cuter walking down the aisle. Mitch was the officiant at the wedding. He is a great public speaker and he made the entire ceremony very personal. He did a great job!

We are a pretty good looking group when we try!

Steph and Lester like dinosaurs. I'm not even sure where the dino thing came from but Steph had mentioned at one point that she thought it would be funny to have someone dance around in a blowup dino costume at the dance. Little did she know, this was a job Caleb was born to do. You had to be a little crazy a little over the top and like a lot of attention. Caleb may be a natural born mascot. It was hilarious! He spent hours in the T Rex costume. Some of the funnier stories were one of Steph's co workers apologized for grinding on the TRex because she had no idea that it was a 13 year old inside. Oh dear! I doubt he noticed the costume is pretty big. The other thing was that Steph had donuts instead of cake. Caleb loves donuts so he made it into the donut tent in the costume, unzipped it a bit and grabbed a donut. He proceeded to eat the donut inside the costume.
There is so much more I could say but I will try to make it short and sweet! I couldn't be happier that you found your forever person in life! You are amazing and you deserve amazing. I often find myself wondering what people without sisters do. We used to fight like cats and dogs but now that we are grown up you are my person. You don't judge me you always listen and you are the first person I want to share news with good and bad. Thanks for being amazing and happy wedding day little sis!

Fall Volleyball

Abby played fall volleyball through NE One again this season. She is still playing on the rec team but they had great coaches that really pushed them to try hard and get better. They also had a really fun team. They did like to be the come back team, this made their coach crazy. They would get down by 10 or more points and then really kick it into gear.

Claire wasn't able to make it to this tournament but these 4 girls are great friends and really enjoy spending time together.

Camping at Platte River

We had decided that we wanted to camp one last time for the season. I had called Platte River to see  if they had any camping spots and they were less than helpful. They told me that I wasn't able to reserve a spot online or over the phone and the only way to get a spot was to come set up a tent and pay. I wanted to just chance it but I knew everyone would be disappointed if we packed everything, drove up there after work and then there wasn't any spots. So Lucy and I took the tent and picked out a spot. We managed to set up our giant tent by ourselves. Ok, Lucy was only moral support and I don't really know how I did it but I got our tent set up! We headed home to pack for everyone else and have a fun night.
We had a relaxing night around the campfire. We had hotdogs and smores.

It was a chilly night but it was a good tent sleeping night. We heard lots of wildlife and birds overnight.

Caleb went fishing and the rest of us spent the morning hiking.

There was a little fishing clinic going on while we were there so everyone borrowed a pole and some bait at one point and we all tried fishing. Caleb was the only one that caught anything though.

We climbed the tower. I always forget how afraid of heights I am until I try to do something like this. Emmy told me to stop holding onto her so tight, I told her that it was so that she didn't fall but if I'm being really honest it was because I was terrified!

We had a great family weekend.

Kimmel Apple Orchard

A little weekend fun now that school has started. We love honey crisp apples so we thought it would be fun to go pick our own. We went to NE City where they have the apple festival every year. Abby got sour apples because those are her favorited. Bryce found the honey crisp and Emmy taste tested a lot of them. Caleb wanted to climb the trees to get the best apples. It was muddy but we had fun. We came home with apples to eat and apples to make pies with. Yum!
