Last Day of School

Bryce and Caleb had their last day of school on Thursday the 23. I think the last day of school was more emotional for me than the first day was. I wasn't the mom crying on the first day of school but I was a little teary when I took the boys lunches in (yes, they forgot their lunches the last day) and saw them all lining up to do "Moving Up Day". This is where they get to go see their classroom for next year and meet their teacher. We got the teacher that we requested and she seems very nice! Even Caleb thought she seemed like a fun teacher to have for next year. Standing there watching them go into the first grade room made me realize just how fast they have grown up!

This is his first day.
This has been quite the year of adjustments for the boys as well as for me. I think we have all had some growing up moments throughout the year but we made it. Next year they will be first graders!

Caleb's first day of school.

Thank you for being so great to the boys Mrs Morrissey!

The 3 musketeers are going to be back together again next year. Watch out Mrs Williams.

SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!
Now I need some prayers for patience.

Zoo with a Preschool Friend

Abby has been done with school for a couple weeks now and it is getting hard to entertain her everyday at home when the boys are still in school. Penny, Abby's friend from preschool had been wanting to go to the zoo with Abby. We finally found a day that it worked for everyone and the girls got their zoo trip. I was so relaxing having 2 moms against 3 kids at the zoo! They fed the goats, played on the playground and in the sandbox and of course fed Leo the paper eating Lion.

Robb's Birthday

Robb turned 29 again this year. He has all the kids trained to say he is 29 and mommy is going to be 31. What a punk! Robb finally got his boat this year! He has always had a boat from the time he was 16 until 2 years ago. Our boat broke 2 years ago and we hadn't bought a new one since. Robb and John decided that they wanted a newer boat than either of them wanted to afford and since they pretty much always boat together they decided to jointly buy a boat.  They have been diligently searching for their dream boat ever since. They wanted an inboard and also a V drive that is fuel injected. Obviously I have heard way too much technical talk concerning boats.
On May first they found the perfect boat (in their price range). We have taken it out a couple times and it runs really nice and the inside has a lot of room. As usual Robb's only request for his birthday was to go out on the boat.

It was incredibly windy but if was still fun.

John and Megan brought Chipotle for supper and the plan was to eat on the boat. I don't even like the kids to eat Chipotle in our house because they are so messy with the rice so if you can imagine adding wind gusts to this didn't make things better. We had a delicious supper but it was stressful trying to keep the inside of the boat clean while Caleb is eating rice if you know what I mean.

The water was still freezing cold since we have had such a cool spring so far. That didn't stop Robb or the kids. They all got in.

I think Abby may have been regretting her decision to get in the water because she was shivering the rest of the time.

As usual even though the water was pretty rough and very cold Robb went wake boarding. He is such a die hard water guy. He really would spend every waking hour at the lake if he could.

Bryce chilling on the boat.

We had a fun night with John and Megan! I hope that Robb had a great Birthday. Happy 29th Birthday to the best husband and father I could ask for!

Last Day of School

It's hard for me to believe that my littlest just completed her first year of preschool. She looks so old! She has grown up a lot this last year! She went from crying everyday that she had to go to school to riding with her friend to school and being a little social butterfly.

Thank you Sueann for another wonderful year of preschool! You always do such a good job taking such little kids and turning them into polite and caring kids. I love the fact that all the kids become such good friends and care so much about each other.

Abby actually had a beautiful day for her preschool family picnic. I think it has been cold for the picnic for the past 2 years. I was fun to see Abby playing with all her little girl friends. It sounds like most of the class will be back next year for Monday, Wednesday, Friday Pre K class. I will be fun for Abby to have some of the same friends in her class next year.

Mother's Day

Sunday was a wonderful Mother's Day. Robb and the kids had been asking what I wanted to do for my special day and my answer was: just keep it simple. It was lovely, I got to sleep in until 9 which is unheard of since I earned the title of Mom. When I got up Robb and the kids had made French toast which is one of my breakfast favorites. The kids could hardly wait until I was done eating before they were bringing out cards and gifts. It was so cute! Abby had made me a card at school and she also made me a bracelet at school. Bryce and Caleb had each made a cute card at school with their hand prints and wrote what they like best about their mom. I think my favorite gift was the one that they all thought up together in the boys room. They took sticks and colored them green and then they each made a flower and taped it on the top. Abby even let them put all the flowers in one of her vases. It was so cute and I loved the fact that they had worked on it together without fighting.
We spent the rest of the day out enjoying the beautiful day. I planted all my flowers I had bought and watched the kids play. The kids were very well behaved for a change (usually they bring out their worst behavior on Mother's Day). It was a very enjoyable day and I have to say being a Mom is by far the hardest and most rewarding job at the same time. Mother's Day always makes me a little emotional because I think back to the days when all I wanted was to be a mom and I wasn't sure if that was in Gods plan. Thank goodness it was and I was blessed with 3 beautiful kids that mean the world to me.

Last Soccer Game

This Saturday was the last soccer game. This season has been terribly cold for spring soccer. Luckily this last game was chilly but bearable. The boys have had fun this year but it doesn't seem like they have liked it as much as last year. Part of the reason is that their team seemed to have a lot of young kids on it this year and they had a hard time being competitive against other teams. It was hard for the boys to lose most of the games.

Go Eagles!

Mother's Day Tea

Abby had her Mother's Day Tea at her preschool on Thursday. This is one of the cutest things that they do in the preschool class! I loved going when the boys were in preschool and have been looking forward to it this year. Abby has also been very excited and very secretive about it. They always sing a cute little song. This year it was the "If raindrops were gum drops". Abby looked pretty nervous but she sang the whole song.

Abby and Mommy.
Abby was adamant that she get to wear a dress or a skirt to the tea party. She also wanted to know why I didn't wear a dress. She can be such a girly girl at times.

They each got to pick a picture to use to make us a card. Most kids had picked flowers or a butterfly but I LOVE the fact that she picked a chocolate cupcake. She knows me so well!

For part of the Mother's Day Tea we got to plant the butterfly garden. Abby was so excited for this part. She picked the pink flowers of course.

She had helped me plant flowers the day before so she knew exactly what she was doing and our flowers were planted in no time.

Abby and her best friend Penny
Abby and Penny bonded the first day when Abby told her that we had a dog named Penny. They have been buds since. Penny's parents were the ones that took Abby to preschool when I broke my ankle.

Mayors Run

Last weekend when it was freezing cold and raining Robb and the boys did the Mayors Run. I don't think Robb was too thrilled about me signing him for this but I figured it would be nice out and the schools were really wanting as many kids as possible to sign up. We just about didn't go but the boys were really excited to go even though the weather was terrible. I stood on the West side of the Capital building so I go to see them go around twice. On the first lap Caleb was crying and Robb said the Huge crowd of kids at the starting line freaked him out. Poor guy. It looked like Robb had to hold Caleb's hand most of the way to keep him going. Bryce actually looked like he was having fun and they all made it running the entire way. Way to go boys. I was proud of them.
They were pretty excited to get Gatorade afterwards! Silly kids. Not sure if Robb will be signing up to do that again anytime soon but maybe next year my ankle will be back to normal and I could run it with them.

Dentist Visits

Last week we had the kids 6 month dentist appointments. They are always SO excited to go which I guess is good, it is just weird! I hope they never fear the dentist as much as me.
Abby has graduated to sitting in the big chair and getting a cleaning instead of sitting on my lap and having the dentist just count her teeth. She did great. She wasn't a bit nervous and got an excellent report. No cavities and very clean teeth.

I was a little worried for Caleb because they took him into another room so that all 3 kids could be done at the same time. He wasn't nervous at all, which was a great improvement from what would have happened even a couple months ago. The dentist was glad to see that Caleb had lost 2  bottom teeth and said he had quite a few other teeth that were loose and would be coming out soon. His 2 bottom, middle permanent teeth were starting to come through too. As expected the dentist predicts some orthodontics in our future. Also I thought it was interesting that Caleb hasn't got his back molars yet. The dentist said to look for them in the next year or so. I guess once they are out of the baby stage I kind of forgot about them getting more teeth. Other than the permanent teeth coming in at potentially interesting angles he also got an excellent report.

Bryce also handled the cleaning like a champ and the dentist was also glad to see that he had lost a tooth on the bottom. Bryce also had quite a few teeth that would be coming out in the next 6 months or so. He did already have his molars so we will just wait for him to loose more teeth and see if he will also need to visit and orthodontist in the future. Bryce got an excellent report and we were told to keep up the good work.
I guess live and learn right. Robb and I have had to have a ton of dental work in the last couple years so we have been trying to do really well with the kids teeth so they don't have to have work done and we don't have additional dental costs.

CRAZY Weather!

This picture pretty much sums up what our Spring weather has been.....Rainy. I know that we had a terrible drought last year and that we desperately need rain but I just wish it was beautiful and sunny during the day and then at night it can rain all it wants. Abby takes her umbrella almost everywhere we go because she hates getting wet.

And then once in a GREAT while we will have a random 80+ degree day thrown in there and my kids are so desperate for summer that they sweet talk their dad into letting them get the pool out.

Just for the record I was working and was not a part of the pool party in April.

Then we get a reminded that we live in Nebraska and any weather is possible. The kids and I delivered May baskets in the sleet and rain and then woke up to this the next morning.
Seriously Nebraska can we decide what season it is already? We went from swimming suits to winter coats and snow in the time span of just one week. This will be one for the record books. I think I heard that the last time we got a May snow it was in 1967.
