Meeting Isaiah Roby

One of Bryce's favorite Husker basketball players was going to be at Chic Fil A signing stuff as a fundraiser for the City Mission. Robb was going to be out of town so he started buttering me up early about how much he likes this player and that it was for a good cause. I guess it worked because all of us were standing in line at Chic Fil A to have Bryce and Caleb get autographs.

Bryce had his birthday gift from Aaron which he wanted him to sign. It was a cool picture of Isaiah Roby that Aaron had made into the shape of NE and made into a plaque. Bryce got a kick out the fact that Isaiah took a picture of it because he thought it was cool.

Morgan and Emmy

Robb and I have known Rick for years, since Robb and him lived together in college. We were there for Rick and Brittany's wedding and were there for them as they went through fertility treatments. When we were pregnant with Emerson I remember being nervous to tell them because we knew how that felt when you were going through infertility. We had went out to eat with them to tell them and at the same time found out that they were expecting twins. We were so excited for them! Their twins were born 1 day after Emmy and were premature. We weren't able to meet them because they were really protective of them because they were so early. Fast forward 4 years and their son Caleb was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away. I still don't know where things got weird with our friendship with Rick and Brittany but we had only met their kids once and didn't really keep in touch. As it always does, the tragedy of Caleb's death brought us together and we decided that our girl needed to meet up. Emmy and Morgan became instant friends! They played like crazy and couldn't wait to see each other again. We spent the day going to a baseball game and watching the girls dance to Frozen songs.

Zoo Day with Daycare

This was our last daycare zoo day. This is always a highlight of the summer! The Children's Zoo has really expanded and this was the first time that we have been there to see the renovations. It was really fun. It is always fun to see Emmy interact with her daycare friends! She is a little mommy to the younger kids. She is really going to miss this group that she has grown up with!
Abby and Addison were good sports and helped wrangle the kids.

Beauty and The Beast with Emmy

This summer the Community Playhouse is doing the Beauty and the Beast play. My plan had been to take the girls but Abby ended up going to Okaboji but Emmy was still up for going. We convinced Robb to go with us. The weather was perfect! We ate pizza and snow cones and enjoyed the show! Emmy was running full speed on the sidewalk by the bathroom and had a major crash. The snow cone vendor gave us a bag of ice but her poor knees were in bad shape. By the time that the show was over Emmy was better and she was ready to meet the cast. This is her favorite part. She loves to see all the characters up close. The acting and the costumes were very impressive.

Lake Okaboji with Maddie

Maddie's parents asked if Abby could come to their cabin in Okaboji with them. My first instinct was to say No. Abby is tough to feed when she has to be so careful not to eat any wheat or gluten. I feel like we are still trying to figure out how to order at out to eat places. I talked to Maddie's mom about it and she seemed to think they would be fine. She is a pediatrician and they have a niece that eats only gluten free so they seemed to know what she could and couldn't have.
Abby and Maddie had a great time! They swam, shopped and went to the fun park one day. I really don't want this diagnosis to stop Abby from doing anything!

One or our Last Daycare Days

Emmy doesn't have very many more days of daycare before she will be going to kindergarten. We have been talking about it but she gets so sad every time we mention not seeing her friends or Andrea daily. This will be a big adjustment for her! Andrea only had a couple kids this day so they made a special trip to the park.

Yankton Vacation

Yankton vacation never disappoints! It is a week filled with sun, boating, swimming, good food and friends that we don't see enough! We used to all be in one cabin (crazy) and now we have all multiplied and we now have 3 cabins. This year we added even one more to the group. Megan and Lanes new baby boy Cooper came along.

Caleb loves babies which is interesting to me! He usually isn't very gentle or careful with anything but give him a baby to hold and he is great with them! Caleb and Cooper were buds a lot that trip!

Who can forget Dairy Dock! Is it even a vacation if you don't get ice cream everyday and sometimes 2 x a day if you are Andy and John.

It's GoKart time!

Emmy rode with me. She wasn't so sure about it! Especially when Caleb bumped us!

She is looking a little scared. She opted to not go a second time.

This is one of the funniest things to watch! It is like a circus on moving tubes. The boys were out there with Bree and Brook. They would stand up, switch tubes and do monkey rolls to the other tube. The girls were good sports!

This is the one time that Emmy and Harper get to spend a lot of time together. These 2 can stay busy with each other all day! Emmy also really likes holding baby Cooper, although it looks like our positioning of holding a baby could us a little work.

Caleb has been really into fishing this year and spent a lot of time down on the docks trying to catch fish. He also recruited AJ and Bryce to go with him. AJ was really starting to enjoy fishing by the time we left the lake!

You know me. I had to get my baby fix! I really miss holding babies! Don't get me wrong, having a tiny baby at the lake is a TON of work but I was happy to hold this little guy for awhile!

The kids had fun riding bikes to Steve and Mary's cabin.

We went garage sale shopping like usual and when their wasn't any good garage sales we stopped in to see if their was anything good at Goodwill. There wasn't but there 2 look cute in anything!

They had most of the dams open this year due to the flooding upsteam. It is always interesting to see this! It is so loud and the water spray goes so far.
This is probably my favorite thing about the camping trip! The big supper meals where we all get together! This has become quite the tradition for our family!

Final Day of Vacation

We made it and we had a great time! We all survived living out of a tent for 4 nights and 5 days. The last night we heard racoons by the tent so Robb got up to scare them away. Lucy was so tired by this point that she slept through it. Those little rascals opened our coolers and they stole the whole loaf of gluten free bread! What turds. I can't buy anymore of that anywhere close not to mention it is about $6 a loaf. Why couldn't they have stole the cheap stuff. We all had a blast. We worked together to set up the tent, carry all of our stuff in, build fires, and make food. Emmy also learned the art of peeing outside since the closest bathroom was too far away in the middle of the night. Successful and memorable vacation 2019.
