Grammy's Pumpkin Patch

Every year Grammy grows enough pumpkins for all the great grandkids. It's a lot of pumpkins. The kids always look forward to going and finding the perfect pumpkin and hunting for weird gourds. Grammy always sweetens the trip with bottomless lemonade and cookies as well as a meal that includes gravy.

The deal is you have to be able to carry your pumpkin. Abby is pushing this to the limits.

Emmy and Grammy are searching for some fun gourds to use for decorating. Emmy also really wanted a little white pumpkin, which they were able to find.

I don't think Emmy could actually carry her pumpkin, but she could pick it up.

Robb makes Grammy look extra short. We always love a visit to Grammy's house to catch up, eat delicious food and hangout with Grammy.

Roca Scary Farm Opening

We love Roca Scary Farm so much that we get season passes so we can go as much as we want. This was the first of many trips there this year. We had beautiful weather! It is always fun to see what they add each year. This place has gotten huge compared to when I brought the kids when they were little. This year they added a huge skeleton to take pictures by and a really nice new obstacle course and skee ball, which Emmy had never played and loved!

Some things never change like the giant trikes that are super hard to peddle.

Abby thought she was brave enough to go through the haunted house but really, she just buried her head in Hayleys back and made me stand so close to her that we were tripping over each other. She could say she went through it but I'm not sure she opened her eyes.

Oh Bryce!

Norris has really tightened up their attendance policy for the high school students this year. The last couple years with Covid it has been pretty lax concerning how many days you can miss. Bryce is the King of the Mental Health Mondays, and he also likes to go on a winter ski trip and The Big Ten Tournament. After the info came out about the revised attendance policy, we had to have a chat that he had to do better this year so that he would get credit for his classes. I had told him and Caleb that they could go to my dad's memorial golf tournament, so I didn't go back on my word with that. With the attendance thing in mind, I may have been a bit vague about what they were going to be gone for and said it was a memorial for their grandpa. The next week when Bryce was looking at Power School, he was surprised to see that the Friday he was gone was an excused absence. He asked what Beaver ment was. I busted out laughing. He over and over again asked how he got excused for Beaver ment and what it was. After I got done laughing super hard, I told him that it was bereavement, and it was because I had said it was for a memorial. We both got a good laugh out of Beaver ment knowing that Grandpa Steve would be happy to help a kid out by getting them excused for Beaver ment.

Happy 19th Anniversary

Robb and I celebrated our 19th Anniversary this year. It is really crazy to think that we have been together since we were only a couple years older than the boys. It landed on a random Tuesday night, but we went out to eat at Copal, a Mexican restaurant and then we walked around the Union College Campus just to get some time to ourselves. Looking back at our Homecoming picture Junior year until now is really crazy! We were so so young! I couldn't have picked a greater guy to go through this crazy life with!

Hawkwers

Bryce and Caleb are both Hawkers for the Husker football games this year. It was something that their friend, Crew did last year, and they thought it would be fun and they could make some money. It didn't turn out to be as lucrative as they thought but I think they still had fun attending the games. That is the main reason Bryce wanted to do it was to go to every home game. Caleb was hoping to make a lot of money which wasn't the case. They were selling Runza's and the concession stand ran out of Runza's for them to sell at half time during most games. Caleb is going to try to switch to selling waters and Bryce seems fine with selling the first half and watching football the second half.
