Halloween 2019

Emmy decided that she wanted to be Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz after going to the school musical. She loved the show and had it all planned out what she would need. However, when it came to Halloween night she decided that she couldn't wear the sparkle red shoes because they weren't comfortable enough. I wasn't going to fight about it since we had a long ways to walk and it was cold out. Abby was having a hard time deciding what she wanted to be this year so she took her cue from Emmy and decided to recycle her old witch costume and be the Wicked Witch of the West with Emmy. Since the girls always trick or treat with Addison and Alexa they also participated in the Wizard of Oz theme by being a scarecrow and tinman. They look adorable trick or treating together. It was cold out but not windy so that helped.

This year the boys were a bit too old to trick or treat but we wanted to make some plans so that they would have something to do. We decided in early October that we would host the Halloween party. More of just a get together than a Halloween party. The boys each invited about 10 kids. We bought a ton of pizza, Gatorade, pop and candy. They had the yard set up to play flag football, basketball, ghost in the graveyard etc. I took the girls trick or treating so supervising this party fell to Robb and Matt Boden, Matt showed up in a full chicken costume and it was hilarious. They claimed that this was the easiest party they have ever supervised. The boys played great and just did their own thing all night.

Caleb and his friend Brody got into the costume bins and had some interesting wigs and outfits on when I got home!

Grammy's Pumpkin Patch

This year we so late getting to Grammy's to get pumpkins, she had picked them all and brought them up closer to the house because the garden was a muddy mess. We have got a little gypped on fall this year. It went from summer to rainy and cold! We still had fun even though we just picked our pumpkins from the porch. Grammy had a yummy supper, gravy included and all the cookies and lemonade that you could possibly drink.

Jason's little dog came over for a few minutes. He is just a small dog but Emmy thought he was a baby dog and was trying to hold him and carry him around. Luckily, his temperament with small children was good!

I had to take a picture of the pine cone tree because it makes me laugh every time I see it. It was so big that Grammy didn't pack it away, she just got fall decorations and decorated it for fall.

Roca Scary Farms

This year the boys were old enough to go to Roca Scary Farms without us. They were no longer interested in the pumpkin patch portion of Roca Scary Farms, they went for the nighttime scary stuff. This was the "in" thing to do with friends so they each went a handful of times which only costs us a small fortune at $12 a night. They would do the Psycho Path, which is a path through the forest with everything on it that your nightmares are made of. One night Caleb came home all cut up because he had crawled through a wood pile to get away from one of the zombies chasing him. I guess it didn't creep him out too much though because he asked to go the next weekend. I will admit that it was a little hard for me to let go of some of that control of knowing where they were and who they were with or if they were being chased by crazy clowns and zombies. They enjoyed the freedom and lived to tell about it.

Pumpkin Patch with Emmy's Class

In Kindergarten all the classes get to go to Roca Berry Farms Pumpkin Patch. Emmy has been talking about this since the first week of school. I was excited to see her in a school setting and to meet her friends. It happened to fall on the coldest day of fall. We had been having nice cool days and then we had rain for a week and weather in the 50's. That of course was the day we were going. At least they didn't cancel because they wouldn't have rescheduled. We just dressed warm and had a fun day. Emmy and her friends are adorable. One thing Emmy had been super worried about was bees. The teacher had told them not to bring pop to drink because of all the bees. It just so happens that if you go on a day that is more or less winter the bees aren't even a problem. Oh Kindergarten worries!
There were so many parents that I only had 1 little girl in my group that I had to watch aside from Emmy. She was fun and easy to watch. We joined another group so that these friends could all be together for the day.

You can't go to the pumpkin patch without going on the hayrack ride!
