Emmy Starts Dance

Emerson loves to sing and dance and last year she begged and begged us to let her be in dance. It was a hard sell to get Robb to agree to this because he thinks dance is too expensive for Abby and she is old enough to get a lot out of it. In the end Emmy and Mom won him over and she got to start a dance class this year. She is in the preschool class on Saturday mornings.
She is adorable when she gets there but getting her ready to go to dance is horrible. She hates wearing tights but ballet shoes don't fit without them so we have to wrestle her into her tights and convince her that if she just leaves them on for a little while they will stop feeling terrible. The first couple of classes she loved but about half way through the year she decided she didn't like it anymore because when she dances she just wants to do whatever kind of dancing she wants and not have to listen. Needless to say, it has been an interesting year.

She listens well in class and although she is a little spacey with what she is suppose to be doing she puts her all into it.

I love watching her dance. She has so much spunk to her.

Solar Eclipse

So, the interesting thing that happened in Nebraska this year is that we were right in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. This total eclipse doesn't happen very often and it will be over 100 years before it happens again. That being said it was a big deal in our area. The schools had purchased glasses for all the kids and had planned fun activities for the day. Roca Ridge Event Center across from us was having activities for it so Dad and Cindy came down as well as Robb's parents and Steve Lund.

Since they were warning that looking at the sun during the eclipse could cause permanent damage to your eyes, we made Emmy a face mask to use. She thought it was pretty cool.

It was pretty neat how it got dark in the middle of the day.

I LOVE this picture! I just happen to snap a picture of Emmy dancing around the yard just as it was starting to get light again.

Seeing the Hearts

Almost every year Lincoln does some kind of community art project where multiple artist put their own spin on a whatever the chosen project is. In the past it had been bikes, light bulbs and this year was hearts. The kids and I had a morning before school started so we hit up East Campus where there were a lot of them. It was fun to find as many as we could. And since we were by the Dairy Store we had to get ice cream. I broke all the rules and we ate ice cream for lunch. I was hoping to be the cool mom!

New Haircuts

We went to see Shannon Brown for some new haircuts before school starts. Abby got a 6 inches off and it is really cute! Bryce got a style that he will have to fix every morning. Not sure how that will go. Caleb didn't want too much off so he got his cleaned up.

Fishing

Bryce and Caleb have never showed much interest in fishing until their friends started going fishing at the Hickman park. They then begged to try fishing. After a fun to Walmart for fishing poles, hooks and worms and picking up their friend Levi, they were ready. I had never dropped them off at a park before and I was a really nervous to just leave them there but they convinced me that they would be alright. They had food, water and a phone with them so I gave it a try. They stayed for a long time and it got late enough that I just went to pick them up. They had caught 30+ fish and were having a great time. Caleb was up to his knees in the water while Bryce and Levi had stayed on the bank. They had a lot of fun and couldn't wait to fish again!
