This is the summer that I have been looking forward to for awhile now. I actually was able to spread out my vacation a little bit and I wasn't the new person at work so I really had a lot of time home with the kids this summer. It was a first in the fact that we didn't hire a summer nanny this year. The big kids just stayed at home while I was sleeping 1-2 days a week. I didn't get a ton of sleep but we made it work. Plus having the extras money from not hiring a nanny allowed us to do some extra fun things.
Abby was at camp so it was just the boys and Emmy. We headed to the Norris Park so they could play basketball and Emmy could play at the park. They ended up playing with her at the park most of the time.
This picture just cracked me up! I bought this rug thinking it was cute but the boys saw a rug that said Hell and had a picture of a pineapple. So I guess welcome to Hell pineapple aka our house.
We went to the Pioneer Park Nature Center and we saw Sueann. She was Bryce, Caleb and Abby's preschool teacher. Now the boys are about as tall as her.

Emmy had fun digging at the outdoor playground. So, this is probably inappropriate to include but it is really too funny to leave out. We walked all the way back into the nature center to the outdoor playground. We had only been there for a couple minutes when Emmy says she has to go to the bathroom. So since she is little I tell myself that it would be ok if I just let her go out in the trees. I am holding her up so she can pee in the trees and she starts to poop! I am in total disbelief! I don't have anything to wipe her with and to make matters worse we just left a people poop in the nature center. So I wiped her with a leaf (it didn't go well) and I had to wash my hand in the stream. By this time I am ready to go home and I am terrified that we are going to get caught for letting her poop in the park. We head back to the Nature Center and the kids play for awhile after Emmy and I visit the bathroom to fix everything that had occurred before.

This is a terrible picture but I am trying to get over that and to just start including them anyway. I have decided that it is time to get back in shape. I haven't been happy with my body in awhile and I want to set some good example for my kids as far as eating right and exercise. I started to do workout videos at home and sometimes the kids even do the exercises with me.
Emmy dancing on the dock.
My grandpa Jim would be proud of this girl! She ate 3 ears of corn in one meal.
Hiking with the kids and the dog.
Abby and I on our hike.
Andy got a new puppy named Hank. The kids love him! Andy has helped us out a lot this summer by coming over and keeping the kids entertained for the afternoon while I sleep. I think it helps him because they wear Hank out.
Emmy has the nicest daycare ever! A couple times a summer she does shaving cream parties or smash a cake parties. It seems like complete craziness to me but she has a blast.
I love that Beau, her buddy, has his shorts on backwards and his butt crack showing.
Overall the big kids are getting too old for the Children's Zoo but a couple times this summer they humored me and came with Emmy and I. I had to remind them that I used to let them do the zoo a couple times a week when they were little all the time.
I always remember parades being so fun when I was little. I guess parades must not be as much of a thing anymore because my kids never go to parades. This was Emmy's first and she thought it was great. It was the Hickman Hayday parade so the kids knew some of the people in the parade from school which was fun!
