Little Mermaid Play

I took the girls to The Little Mermaid play that the local playhouse put on. I was a little nervous how it would go with Emmy because it was SO hot when we went, but she loved it!

We went and set out blankets out early so that we had great seats.

Andrea and Addison came with us.

The girls all loved the show. The acting and the singing was amazing. Emmy spend most of the show on the sidewalk dancing with the music. I see lots of plays and musicals in our future with her.

They all had fun getting pictures with all the cast members. Some of the cast members were only a couple years older than the girls which is crazy. There were a lot of shows and it went until kind of late a night. They were dedicated!

Ursula was Emmy's favorite.

Little Sibling Camp

Camp Sonshine that Abby went to offered a little siblings camp and Abby really wanted to take Emmy and Emmy was super excited to go. It was just for half a day. Emmy had her clothes all planned out and she was up and ready to go bright and early.

When we got there Emmy got really nervous and decided she didn't want to do it Luckily they were great and eventually she found a cat and she was alright with me leaving.

When I picked them up they were a little sunburned, sweaty and dirty but they had big smiles on their face. Emmy had lots of stories of how the day went. Abby said that it was fun except Emmy wouldn't play in the bounce house so Abby sat out with her but she was bummed because she wanted to jump.

From the look on their face I think it went well!

There was no argument about taking a nap that day. She was asleep the second she laid down.

Summer Fun

This is the summer that I have been looking forward to for awhile now. I actually was able to spread out my vacation a little bit and I wasn't the new person at work so I really had a lot of time home with the kids this summer. It was a first in the fact that we didn't hire a summer nanny this year. The big kids just stayed at home while I was sleeping 1-2 days a week. I didn't get a ton of sleep but we made it work. Plus having the extras money from not hiring a nanny allowed us to do some extra fun things.
Abby was at camp so it was just the boys and Emmy. We headed to the Norris Park so they could play basketball and Emmy could play at the park. They ended up playing with her at the park most of the time.

This picture just cracked me up! I bought this rug thinking it was cute but the boys saw a rug that said Hell and had a picture of a pineapple. So I guess welcome to Hell pineapple aka our house.

We went to the Pioneer Park Nature Center and we saw Sueann. She was Bryce, Caleb and Abby's preschool teacher. Now the boys are about as tall as her.

Emmy had fun digging at the outdoor playground. So, this is probably inappropriate to include but it is really too funny to leave out. We walked all the way back into the nature center to the outdoor playground. We had only been there for a couple minutes when Emmy says she has to go to the bathroom. So since she is little I tell myself that it would be ok if I just let her go out in the trees. I am holding her up so she can pee in the trees and she starts to poop! I am in total disbelief! I don't have anything to wipe her with and to make matters worse we just left a people poop in the nature center. So I wiped her with a leaf (it didn't go well) and I had to wash my hand in the stream. By this time I am ready to go home and I am terrified that we are going to get caught for letting her poop in the park. We head back to the Nature Center and the kids play for awhile after Emmy and I visit the bathroom to fix everything that had occurred before.

This is a terrible picture but I am trying to get over that and to just start including them anyway. I have decided that it is time to get back in shape. I haven't been happy with my body in awhile and I want to set some good example for my kids as far as eating right and exercise. I started to do workout videos at home and sometimes the kids even do the exercises with me.

Emmy dancing on the dock.

My grandpa Jim would be proud of this girl! She ate 3 ears of corn in one meal.

Hiking with the kids and the dog.

Abby and I on our hike.
Andy got a new puppy named Hank. The kids love him! Andy has helped us out a lot this summer by coming over and keeping the kids entertained for the afternoon while I sleep. I think it helps him because they wear Hank out.

Emmy has the nicest daycare ever! A couple times a summer she does shaving cream parties or smash a cake parties. It seems like complete craziness to me but she has a blast.

I love that Beau, her buddy, has his shorts on backwards and his butt crack showing.

Overall the big kids are getting too old for the Children's Zoo but a couple times this summer they humored me and came with Emmy and I. I had to remind them that I used to let them do the zoo a couple times a week when they were little all the time.

I always remember parades being so fun when I was little. I guess parades must not be as much of a thing anymore because my kids never go to parades. This was Emmy's first and she thought it was great. It was the Hickman Hayday parade so the kids knew some of the people in the parade from school which was fun!

Camp Sonshine

This year Abby did day camp at Camp Sonshine. She went with her best friend Addison. She was a little nervous but ended up having a blast!

Everyday they came back sweaty, dirty, tired and full of stories of what they did that day. I think it was a great experience.

Abby, Addison and their counselor for the week. She had endless energy and made the week really fun for these girls.

On Friday night they had the option of doing an overnight. They decided to do it and they were glad that they did. We all went for the pancake breakfast the next morning. Abby was exhausted when she got home.

Yankton Vacation

Abby had a lot of fun having girls to hang our with for a change. She stayed busy tubing, swimming, doing crafts with Pat and playing with Brie and Addie and Brook.

Caleb likes hanging out with the girls!

Emmy had a blast swimming and playing in the sand.

Collecting shells and making sand castles.

Lucy also loves this vacation. This year we did take her to doggie daycare. She would go to the kennel for the day and then we would pick her up at 5 so she could be with us for the evening. This worked out well except it was kind of a pain to run her into town and back.

He will probably forever be known as "Little Caleb" even though he is catching the boys in height.

Emerson loves getting to be with all the big girls. Luckily they all like her enough that they let her tag along.

Abby is helping cut up onions for supper. Such a goof!

Emmy getting ready for supper.

Pat the activities coordinator always has fun things planned. Water balloon fight.

No Yankton trip would be complete without multiple multiple trips to the Dairy Dock. I think we kept them in business that week.
