Vacation Bible School (June 3-7)

The kids always enjoy the vacation bible school (VBS) at our church. Last year I worked as a VBS teacher in the 3 year old room all week. Needless to say this isn't my cup of tea. As much as I love having my kids attend VBS I don't think that I am the right person to be a teacher. It stressed me out! This is more of Robb's thing. He would be great at this but unfortunately it is all week during the morning so that doesn't work out for most people that have a job. I didn't sign up to help this year since I felt like I paid my dues last year and I also was suppose to have jury duty ( I got it deferred) but I thought this could be my year off.
The week before VBS started I got a call on my cell phone and I didn't know the number so I answered it. It happened to be the Education Director of our church wanting to know if there was anyway I could teach the kindergarten class. As much as I wanted to decline I am just really bad at saying NO so I took one for the team and agreed to do it again this year. God Grant Me Patience!

I was worried that Abby would be nervous about going since I wasnt' her teacher but she did great. She knew one of the little girls in her class and she absolutely loved her teacher. She had a blast all week. It was really cute to look over during music time and see her doing all the actions and belting out the songs. This is Abby all ready to go for the morning. We did have to take the bling down a notch and took off the clip on earrings and the glasses.

Caleb  was thrilled that I was going to be his teacher! This took a lot of the anxiety out of the whole thing for him. He had fun all week and even did OK on the one day that I didn't teach. He had a blast at rec time and was always excited to see what the game was for the day.

Bryce was also really excited that I was going to be his teacher. Seeing how excited the boys were that I was going to be teaching their class made it worth it even if it did try my patience at times. Bryce liked the music time but his favorite by far was craft time. He always put 110% effort into his craft and was always really proud of what he made.

It ended up being a good week and I really shouldn't have dreaded teaching so much.

Memorial Weekend

We went back to Norfolk for Memorial Weekend. The kids were excited to see the grandparents and Robb was going to help his dad get a little work done on the apartments. We also were excited to help Brook celebrate her 8th birthday. We had a fun weekend! On Saturday we went to Brooks party and the kids had a blast. They drank way too much lemonade and ate all the cake and ice cream that they could get their hands on. Brook got lots of fun presents and it was fun to be able to help her celebrate. Unfortunately I forgot my camera for the party so I don't have any birthday pictures.
After we left the birthday party to make a busy day even busier we headed to Sioux Falls SD. My uncle Greg and aunt Shari live there and had moved about nine years ago and we have yet to visit their house. I have always felt guilty about this but it is such a long drive for us. Since we were already closer by being in Norfolk we decided to make it to their Memorial Day party. It was fun to see Greg and Shari's new house and my cousins and their families were there and Dad and Cindy. I don't see my cousins often so that was a treat. We grilled out and the kids all played outside. Before we headed home for the evening Greg took us to The Falls. It was beautiful! I couldn't believe all the times I had been to Sioux Falls as a kid and we had never went to see it.
This was a restaurant on the water. It was really pretty!

The kids were cold and worn out from the busy day but even they had fun seeing the water rush over the rocks.

Abby hadn't seen Shelby in a long time but the 2 of them sure hit it off and my the end of the day they were best friends.

Needing to Catch Up!

Well if you read the blog at all it appears that we haven't done Anything since school got out 2 months ago. Of course that is not true and we have done all sorts of fun things I just can't keep up. There is usually at least one time a year that I start to feel completely overwhelmed with our schedules, activities, work etc and the first thing to go is the blog since it is optional. I really wish that this wasn't the case but it is and I really like having a record of what we do throughout the year so I am going to ATTEMPT to slowly catch up.
