Happy Birthday Grandma

We went to Norfolk this last weekend to celebrate Grandma Jody's 50th birthday. We stayed at Divots Hotel and let the kids swim. We went out to a nice dinner Saturday night and all the kids were very well behaved. Abby didn't come though because we knew that she would be a little disaster. We got to see the great grandparents and lots of other family. On Sunday morning the little boys gave grandma her bike that we had bought her. I don't know who was more excited her or the boys. It was a fun weekend. Happy 50th Mom and Grandma!

Hayrack Ride

Hayrack Ride

Bryce and Caleb had a hayrack ride at school this last Friday. They have been talking about it since they brought the note home the first week of school. Bryce has been calling it the hayback ride. They were pretty bummed when they found out that Abby couldn't come but they were excited that they each got to bring a special person. I think we probably cheated the system a little. Since there is two of them I went as one of the special people and we invited grandma Susie to come when Robb wasn't able to make it. They were so happy to have grandma come too. It was a very fun morning. I love seeing them interact with their teachers and friends at school.

Go Big Red

The Necklace!

Abby's New Necklace

Poor Abby is getting four teeth at the same time, so needless to say she is a bit crabby. That is putting it lightly. She has been a little monster! I feel bad for her though. Her mouth and lips are swollen and she has a rash on her chin from drooling so much. We have tried Ibuprofen, Tylenol and teething tablets and we were desperate enough to try something a little unconventional. A mom at the boy's preschool and a mom at the boy's swimming lessons had suggested trying an amber teething necklace. I looked it up on the internet and it sounded kind of hokie. It is a necklace made out of amber stones and they don't chew on it, it just works by having the beads against the skin. Supposedly amber helps the body handle pain better. Well I was a skeptic but I sent Robb out to buy one on his lunch break on Monday. He said the store was pretty interesting, but that's a whole different story. I put it on her and in about two hours she was a different child. She was happier and it didn't seem like her teeth were bothering her nearly as much. To top it off, Abby slept through the night which almost never happens. I am now a believer in the amber necklace even though as a nurse I tend to believe in medicine more than any homeopathic remedies. I figure as well as the necklace has worked we need to get her a couple bracelets and anklets too. Just kidding!

Is This A Problem???

We knew that Abby liked to play dress up but we didn't know that her brothers also think it is pretty funny. Of course daddy was not anywhere near when they did this!

First Day

First Day of Preschool

Today was Bryce and Caleb's first day of Preschool or actually Prekindergarten this year. They will go Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of just two days a week like last year. They are attending Pioneer Park Nature Center Preschool again this year. Last year they seemed to enjoy it and the teachers were wonderful. They have the same teachers this year and even some of the same kids in their class, so it wasn't all new to them.
The boys didn't seem nervous when we had been talking about starting school, but this morning when we were getting ready to go Bryce tried to shut himself in the bathroom and was nervous to go. Poor kid! Once we got their they were both excited and walked right into the classroom and said hi the the teacher and the kids that they knew from last year. Abby sat right down in one of the chairs and I had to carry her out kicking and screaming. I guess she is ready to start school also. I was proud of how grown up the boys acted and it was hard to believe how much more comfortable I was leaving them this year as opposed to last year. Our babies are growing up! I can guarantee you that this mama will be shedding some tears when they start kindergarten.

Abby's New Do

Abby"s First Haircut

Abby is now 19 months old and we have never got her hair cut. Bryce and Caleb both got thier hair cut by 6 months but we have been trying to grow Abby's out. Lately though the mullet has gotten more obvious and we don't want her to look at pictures when she is older and hate us for the mullet. So we got her hair cut last week. I took the boys to get their hair cut for family pictures and decided that it was time to finally cut her hair. She watched her brothers get theirs done and she did really well. She sat in the chair all by herself. She looked pretty nervous but no tears were shed. I didn't really know how to have the hair dresser cut her hair so I just had her bangs trimmed up a little taken off of the back. It was sad to see her little curl get cut off. When the hair dresser got done I almost wanted to cry. Her hair looked ridiculous. It looked like we did a long shag cut, luckily it still goes into pigtails and she still looks adorable.
