So Much to be Thankful For

The weather was nice enough that uncle Aaron brought his motorcycle and gave Caleb a ride.

The whole family.

I can't believe it has been a month since my last blog! Where has the time gone? I guess time flies when you are having fun and this time of year is definitely fun!
I love Thanksgiving time. I am a firm believer in letting Thanksgiving have its holiday. So I am always bummed to see that stores now completely skip Thanksgiving and start decorating for Christmas before Halloween even is over. I love Thanksgiving for the fact that it is all about getting together with family and being thankful for what we have, and some really delicious food. I know it doesn't carry the hype that Christmas does but I still like it.
This year we all had a 4 day weekend to celebrate and I was so excited! We headed back to Norfolk on Wednesday afternoon for the first of the 3 Thanksgivings that we got to celebrate. My mom hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving with delicious food. My grandparents also got to come. It is always fun to get to see them and for the kids to get to know them. We ate until we could eat no more and sat around and chatted for the rest of the night. By 9 we packed up and Robb headed to his parents house to put the kids to bed. My sister, Courtney (my brother's girlfriend) and I headed to the Twilight movie. Call me a dork but I have been looking forward to seeing this movie for months and I knew that I would never convince Robb to go, not to mention it is the perfect movie to see with someone like your sister. It was GREAT of course.
The next morning Caleb got up ridiculously early with Grandma to help her start cooking. He made the green bean casserole which turned out delicious. Thanks to Robb's mom and her getting up at the crack of dawn we had a delicious Thanksgiving meal with Robb's family and extended family for lunch. Robb's poor dad had the flu so he didn't get to enjoy any of the festivities or food. I guess there was plenty of leftovers but it still isn't the same. We also had an unseasonably warm November day so all the kids enjoyed jumping on the trampoline and playing football with the bigger boys. Uncle Aaron even brought one of his motorcycle and gave the boys rides. We really couldn't have asked for a nicer day!
Later that afternoon we headed to the big town of Plainview to see my dad and Cindy and celebrate with them. I must say my sister and I were very impressed with my dad's cooking skills. Cindy is doing better after a bad break to her leg but still can't get around great so we had offered to bring the meal but my dad insisted that he could cook, and he can. We had a great meal and time to chat and the cousins got to play together. They all had to check out grandpa's barn where the kitties and the shuffle board table are.
We were all exhausted and stuffed to the brim but we had a fun day. I am so thankful to have a wonderful family to spend Thanksgiving with.
Since Black Friday now starts Thanksgiving night I had convinced Robb's brother Andy to go Black Friday shopping with me. Robb's mom, Andy and I headed to Walmart at 9 to get the xbox with kinect that went on sale at 10pm. Holy ridiculousness! I have never seen so many people jammed into one place. You couldn't even walk. Needless to say we did not get there in time to get the xbox. I'm pretty sure the people that ended up with the ticket to get that missed Thanksgiving lunch and headed to Walmart to stand in line. So we failed at Black Friday shopping but I guess Live and Learn.
Instead we went home and got a good nights sleep and Susie and I headed out in the morning. We went early but not crazy early and still managed to get most of the deals we were after. We also hit up The Milkhouse, a super cute little craft store that Susie, Ginger and I frequent every year around Christmas time to get gifts for teachers.
We got all packed up and headed back to Lincoln to finish the rest of our weekend. By the time we were half way home I had a pretty good feeling that I had some how caught Bob's flu bug and was miserable. I went to bed right when we got home and prayed that no one else would get it. That was pretty much the end of my weekend.
Oh well. Most of it was good.
