Dress Rehersal

Abby and Emmy danced at Aimee's Dance studio in Hickman this year. They have had fun and it has been a great experience. The recital was 2 shows, and early and late show on a Saturday. The day before was dress rehearsal. The rehearsal was at the Norris School and unlike the years past where pictures are on a different day, this year it was rehearsal and pictures all in one. It was a crazy busy day to say the least. If I would have know how crazy it was going to be I would have enlisted the help of a grandma or Steph. Live and learn I guess. We were running a little behind because putting eye liner on your tween that has an opinion on their make up just no idea how to apply it is interesting. We ended up going to the school without our eyeliner on and had one of the other moms apply it for us. It also would help if I wore eyeliner and had any idea how to do it aside from just watching a video. They ran everything through just like they would on recital night but would stop dances to get the girls in the right places or lines etc. When they were done with their dance they would head out to the hallway to get their class picture and then individual pictures taken. Abby had 4 costume changes to deal with and Emmy had a shoe change and a costume change. I was a sweaty mess by the time the day was done. I had lost Emmy once and a mom found her crying and helped her find me, Abby had to have a complete stranger change her out of a costume. I guess, all hands on deck. I also did hair for a couple random girls and helped others with costumes, tights and shoes. The dance mom gig is no joke. The day was long for the girls, especially Emmy! I called in assistance from Robb late in the afternoon to bring us all supper and take Emmy home. These girls work hard all year to get ready for the recital and it is so fun to watch them shine up on the stage!

Emmy's class danced to Bibbity Bobbity Boo and one of the older girls was dressed as Cinderella on stage with them.

This was Abby's ballet costume. It was my favorite costume of the entire recital. She looked beautiful in it!

In true Abby fashion she spotted a turtle as she was leaving. She didn't want it to get hit my a car in the parking lot and she wanted to bring it home to Robb to put in his pond. I still remember the turtle in the car incident from a couple years ago. She was convincing and we found a box to put him in. It was a nerve wrecking ride home as he tried to fight his way out. We made it without him getting loose and Robb was really excited for a turtle for the pond.
