Ginger has been running the Fly By Night Fireworks tent for a couple years now and this year Bryce and Caleb went down to help. We didn't really know how it would go, since they haven't had a "real" job before, but what better place to learn than with Ginger as your boss. She will tell it like it is. Norfolk can start selling fireworks on June 25, the boys went up a day early to get the tent all set up and organized. Ginger says, that is all went very well. She claims that they were great employees, which I don't tend to see their hard work abilities at home, but I believe that they are there somewhere. The boys really enjoyed the week of more freedom than they usually have. Brook would drive them around and they would work shifts at the tent, go around town picking up fast food to eat and playing at the cabin at night. Every night was like a sleep over with the cousins at the cabin and everyday was work plus hanging out with friends. It was fun to talk to Ginger and hear her take on how things were going. Bryce had been promoted to assistant manager because he was one of the only kids that was willing to learn how to run the register. He also was good about making sure that someone was scheduled and there for every shift. Caleb had quickly become the head salesperson because he had taken the initiative to learn what fireworks were the best and which ones weren't very good. He was a master at the up sell and brought in a lot of money for the tent. Overall, it sounded like a successful year! Bryce and Caleb got in some good work experience and freedom plus lots of time with the grandparents and the cousins. They were also thrilled with the money they made and now they can pay us back all the debt they owe.
