I'm not going to sugar coat how the second half of this year has gone. It has been so incredibly hard after my dad died! All of us have struggled a lot and we just try to make it through by taking it day by day. From talking to Cindy, she is also struggling, of course and we decided that we needed to get together and do something together to try to make it through. Cindy has always wanted to do a ropes course which surprised me but we were up for the challenge. Thanks to Steph, who is a born leader and planner we had a date and tickets purchased in no time. Emmy and Robb had her first basketball game, so we moved their time to earlier in the day, but she still got to see Grandma Cindy. Bryce also had basketball camp in Omaha, but he was able to join us for supper.
Originally, I wasn't going to climb but we ended up with an extra ticket and I didn't want it to go to waste. I stuck to the easy ones, and it was still a challenge to me. I don't love heights, so it was pretty scary. Jace stuck with me the first couple rounds and then he went off with Abby. Caleb on the other hand started on the easy ones and worked his way through them all until he had completed the black course. Crazy kid! He has no fear. Abby was pretty conservative, but she was more adventurous than me.
It was great to see Cindy have a fun day and to be together.
Robb said it took some convincing to get Emmy to go through with the course, but she made it through and said she loved it.
Steph didn't climb because she had just had her gall bladder out a couple weeks earlier. She was the photographer and the cheerleader from the ground.
We all went to a burger place to eat afterward. It felt really good to be together as a family and it was a fun day!
