We went back to Norfolk for John Lund's 40th birthday party—just a quick trip for the evening. While we were at the party, Abby and Emmy watched Megan's kids at Lutz's house. It was fun catching up with John and some people we knew from high school. We left the boys home alone, telling them we'd be back late but that no friends were allowed over. We got multiple calls asking for clarification on what "no friends" meant, since it was a bit vague. When we pulled in at 1 a.m., we found Brody backing out of the driveway. It was our first "big kid" issue, which led to a big kid consequence. Fortunately, they're good kids, and we don’t have to worry about the really serious stuff, but it was definitely something that needed to be addressed.
