Emerson is 4 months (June 4)

Our baby girl is growing and changing everyday. It is hard to believe that she is 4 months old already! She is no longer the tiny baby that likes to curl into you and sleep all day. She is bright eyed and curious about everything. She loves to have people talk to her and thinks Bryce, Caleb and Abby are the funniest little people ever. Gone are the days of just holding her as I did chores around the house. She now wants to be entertained. She likes her toys, the play gym, and we have just started to use the jumper and the exercauser more. Emmy has perfected the back to front roll and the second you put her down she is rolling. However, she doesn't love laying on her tummy so then she is upset.

This cute little chub brings so much joy to our family! She is a really easy going baby and has become such a part of our family in a very short amount of time. She is still a good eater, as you can see. However, we have learned that she doesn't tolerate dairy and I have had to go to a completely dairy free diet. Early on I had just cut out obvious dairy such as ice cream, yogurt, and cheese. Now that I have gone completely dairy free we use vegan butter, different bread, I use almond milk in place of regular milk and I have stopped eating milk chocolate. If you know me at all these have been very hard dietary changes to make because milk chocolate, milk, ice cream and cheese and my very favorite foods. This little girl is worth it though. If I do eat dairy she has an upset stomach and poopy diapers that run out of the diaper multiple times a day. Not to mention the poor girl ends up with a really bad diaper rash.

She has become a little bit better sleeper and starts the night in her crib. She usually gets up once during the night between 3-4am to eat and usually goes back to sleep until 6 or 7. Many times she comes to bed with us after her middle of the night feeding. She continues to be our little hot body baby and is most comfortable sleeping in a onesie and being wrapped in a muslin swaddle blanket.

Emmy was 15lbs 12oz and 24.75inches at her 4 month check up which actually was more like 4.5 months. Dr. David was still concerned about the little bump on the right side of her head and although he did an xray to rule out anything really bad he wants us to follow up with the neurosurgeon in Omaha. This makes me a little nervous but I am just hoping that Dr. David is being overly cautious like he always is. Otherwise he was happy with her growth and development. She is in the 80% for weight and the 90% for height and the 50% for her head circumference. I guess she isn't going to have a big melon like Caleb.  Dr. David did say that we probably should plan on getting tubes before her 1st birthday since she has already had 2 ear infections. Poor kids all inherited my horrible ears.

Abby was happy to cuddle with her before they both had to get shots.
