A Day at Mahoney

This summer has flown! I don't know if the unseasonable cool weather has made it seem like summer wasn't really summer or why we are feeling the crunch to fit everything in at the end. Part of it is the boys will start school soon and then they are gone all day every day. Our days to hang out together doing fun stuff is coming to an end so we tried to fit in a couple more family fun days before school starts.
We knew we wanted to take a day to just spend having fun as a family. After some research on Robb's part and some thought we decided to go to Mahoney for the day. We had tossed around the idea of the Kansas City waterpark and Adventure Land but for the money and the short drive we decided that Mahoney would be fun for everyone and very affordable. Not to mention it was nice not having to plan on a 4 hour drive with the kids. Robb took a day off in the middle of the week so we would miss the crowd and we had our family fun day.
We started the day off with riding the paddle boats. Robb and Caleb started on one boat while Caleb, Abby and I rode the other one. We paddled all over the little lake. On one shore it was pretty shallow and the kids could lean over and fish out snail shells while we paddled by. They thought this was pretty cool. About half way through we pulled up next to each other and the kids switched who they were riding with. We paddled around for a little longer but it was SO HOT we cut the paddle boats a little short and headed to the waterpark. While pulling the boats back into the dock, Robb stood up on one side of his boat causing it to tip and Abby fell off. Poor girl! I guess now we know why everyone has to wear lifejackets (in case your parent tries to drown you). To make things worse Robb had his phone, Ipod and keys in his pocket so he didn't go right in after her. He stopped to empty his pockets first. (Abby I guess now you will have black mail in the future knowing that your dad saved his Ipod before you). Abby was really upset by the entire thing and the poor teenagers running the paddle boats seemed a bit stressed over the situation too. I guess our child must have been the first to fall in the pond in awhile. We all made it out and poor Abby smelled like a swamp creature. It was a good thing we were headed to the waterpark next.

We had never been to the waterpark at Mahoney before. It was pretty big but it was really crowded for a weekday. There was a couple slides that the boys thought were fun and a kids area that Abby liked. Every one's favorite part was the wave pool. I love the wave pool too but it always makes me a little nervous with the kids because it is too easy to lose them in the crowd.

Bryce going down the slide

This cracks me up! Robb going down the slide. It looks like he might have an interesting landing.

This slide was really fast and steep so I was surprised that the boys liked it but they both thought it was fun.

Bryce is making sure he followed the rules of hands at your sides and feet straight in as he went down the slide.

Abby and mommy hanging out at the pool. Although I have been feeling better with this pregnancy, the heat was kind of getting to me about half way through the days so I was taking it easy.

Our plan had been to sign Abby up for the horse trail rides when we got there in the morning, but they were already full. It ended up being fine because they wouldn't let you ride if you were pregnant so I couldn't have went with her and last time I checked Robb wasn't going to volunteer to ride a horse. Instead she rode the poor, hot, ponies that got to walk in circles all day. She still thought it was fun. Her pony's name was JB like Justin Bieber (I guess). She thought that was really funny!

After an exhausting day of fun we decided to wrap it up with a game up putt putt golf. By this point Abby was DONE! I also wasn't feeling the best, so her and I sat on the benches while the boys golfed.

It was a great day and everyone left completely beat.
