This year we had a working boat which was wonderful! Most years Robb brings his boat that would run about half the time and John would bring his boat that would run about half the time and sometimes John's dad Steve would bring a boat that they would try to get started if the others were out of commission. This year we had no mechanical problems with the boat the entire time. Robb and John are both pretty in love with their new shared boat so we spent a lot of time on the water.
My little boater Caleb. He was always up for going out on the boat!
Bryce liked going out most of the time but also wanted to spend time at the cabin riding his bike and playing.
Abby was hit or miss when it came to going out on the boat. It had to be hot but not too hot and she had to be in a good mood but overall she had fun too.
She was being crabby so John was going to throw her in.
Bryce and Caleb both tried to wakeboard which always makes me a little nervous but they seemed ready this year. They didn't get nervous when we would have to come back and pick them up and we let them try when it wasn't so busy so I didn't have to worry about other boats not seeing them in the water.
Neither one of them was able to get all the way up on the wakeboard or skis but they gave it a good try and they both had a blast tubing.
Caleb got pretty close to getting up. He was so Determined! Maybe next year. I think he just needs a little more upper body strength.
The kids look forward to going to the Go Kart track during the Yankton vacation. We end up taking quite the group of people and it is pretty fun because everyone gets to race each other. Bryce rode with John, Abby rode with Megan and Caleb rode with Grandma. On the last run Abby was even brave enough to ride with Uncle Andy.
This year the boys were old enough to drive their own bumper boats. It was hilarious to watch them! They spent a lot of time just going in circles but that didn't bother them a bit. When it was time to bring the boats back to the dock for the worker to hook them back up it became even more interesting. Caleb had trouble getting his back and at one point the worker was going to jump in a boat to go get him but he managed to get it figured out.
The Yankton Vacation has become quite the tradition to our family. It is always a great time for everyone!
