Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July! These 2 crazy kids have been looking forward to living out of town during the 4th since we bought this land. We have always made them adhere to the rule that Lincoln only does fireworks on the 3-4. Now that we live in Roca the firework tents went up 2 weeks before the 4th and the boys were itching to spend all their birthday money.

Abby had reached the age where we would let her light smoke bombs and smaller fireworks. She was pretty excited about this!

Bryce and Caleb with the help of Uncle Andy put on a pretty impressive firework show. They also had to set the box that the fireworks came in on fire.

Andy brought all the fireworks that he didn't use over to our house and let the boys light them. Best gift ever!

The show was very cool but we stayed a safe distance away! You never know what is going to happen when you mix the young and old Lutz boys together with fireworks.

On the 4th we had our annual Lake party. The weather was much better than last year and we had a pretty good turn out. We had  about 30 min of rain and it wasn't sunny but it was still hot enough to swim.

Emmy wasn't a big fan of how loud the fireworks were but on the 2nd we had went to the Hickman fireworks show and they had a DJ. That was more her style. She entertained everyone around us with her dancing.

Fireworks at the lakehouse. This year our kids got a crash course in how dangerous fireworks can be. As we were at the lakehouse one of the houses right across the cove started to have thick smoke coming out the side of it which appeared to be by the garage. For a couple minutes we just thought it was fireworks and then we saw the neighbors start to take action. They were pulling hoses around to the front of the house and people were carrying animal crates with their dogs in them out of the house. You could see that the thick black smoke was coming out of the roof of the house. Soon the firefighters arrived and ladders were leaned up against the house and firefighters were cutting large holes with chain saws in the roof. It was a pretty crazy sight! About the time that the firemen are cutting holes in the roof a boat comes speeding into the cove and people jump out at that dock. The people that owned the house had been out on the lake when this happened and were coming back to their house on fire.
We had planned to stay at the lakehouse that night but after talking to the people that had the fire Robb and I ended up offering up the lakehouse to them for a couple days. We figured that we had a house to go back to and it was really the right thing to do. We have awesome friends and even after a long day of playing and partying they stayed to clean up the kitchen, make beds, wipe down bathrooms, sweep floors and take the trash out so that the neighbors could stay. It was fun to see everyone pull together to help someone out. Caleb was super upset that we weren't staying at the lakehouse that night but hopefully we helped instill good moral character!

The kids watched the fireworks from the mat on the lake. What a life!
