A young guy at Target the other day asked me for help picking out a toddler toothbrush. He said I looked like a seasoned mom, not sure how to take that, but none the less I can totally pick out a toddler toothbrush. I guess the 4 kids that I had with me may have given away that I am a seasoned mom and I guess I should take that more as a compliment than a jab at my messy hair and yoga pants style. I will say the most important thing I have learned by being a seasoned mom is find a friend that is in the pit with you. Find that someone that you can call and cry to and be brutally honest too. This person has to love you for who you are even though it may not always we pretty. It is someone that you can have over no matter what your house looks like, you can talk to them about your marriage at its best and worst and you can be brutally honest about your kids with them. So....my kid won't wear underwear. Do you think that's a problem? I am blessed to say that I have at least a couple of these moms in my life and they are what gets me through some of the worst days. Days when I feel like I am failing as a mom, wife and person. They are the ones that tell me that they don't get to shower every day either, that they also have grey hair and haven't cleaned their bathrooms in weeks. I am forever thankful for these friends and I hope they know how important they are to me!
It is a very rare occasion that Tasha and I get to hang out anymore. We thought it was hard finding time between naptimes and feedings. Now we are working around school activities, basketball, baseball, football, dance, swim lessons, church groups, tumbling, Girl Scouts, work schedules. You name it and its probably on our calendar. So, this was a fun day to take our youngest children (aka hardest children) to a movie. We went to see Little Star the Christmas story. It was really cute.
I obviously need some work on my selfie skills but her is a quick picture of all of us. We pretty much had the theatre to ourselves so it was perfect for Emmy and Abel.
