We headed to Norfolk at about 11 and got there early afternoon. The description of how we left our house would be best described as: It appears there was a struggle. The kids were super excited to see everyone and of course open gifts. The girls got changed into their dresses and we unpacked all of our stuff. We have learned from past years and we make them get a group picture before gifts otherwise it never happens.

Thank you Bob and Susie for such a fun Christmas!
Susie made the girls dresses this year and they were adorable!
After we got our stuff in the house and the girls in their dresses we started the process of gift opening. We go youngest to oldest so Emmy was first up. She got a new Ipad and a case. She was thrilled with this because her current Ipad is almost dead and she would consider it a staple in her life.
Bob (the elf) out did himself this year and there were 3 gifts that had clues to find them. With the clues was a cute rhyming poem about how they really did get a present they really did they must find it. Abby was the first to have a scavenger hunt gift and it lead her to her new 10 speed bike which she tried out in her Christmas dress.
Caleb has been obsessed with fishing lately so he has had his eye on this bait caster fishing pole for a while now. Grandma and Grandpa came through with the pole he has been wanting and an ice fishing tent so he can try out that sport this winter.
Bryce has had a good idea of what his gift was for a while now and has been asking repeatedly if he can take days off of school to go to the Big 10 tournament in Indianapolis. This was his gift last year and he had a blast! He got exactly what he wanted with an airline ticket to fly there, a picture of the hotel that they would be staying in and tickets to all the games. He was beyond excited! Now I just have to convince Grandma that she can't buy him Starbucks every morning because last time when he got back he couldn't start his day without a coffee. I guess if being a coffee addict is the worst that happens, that's ok.
It was a nice relaxing day! We let the kids open gifts and the adults opened some and then we would take a break to play with it. Andy got a smoke infuser that kept people busy for a while. Susie made a wonderful supper, as always and we topped it off with cheese cakes.
Grammy sent our gifts since we couldn't come to Christmas breakfast. She had made everyone super cute aprons this year. I love her tradition of making everyone a gift! We had to get a group picture with the aprons on.
| This group looks like trouble! |
| The dishes crew. We look like we are being helpful but I don't think we even made a dent in the clean up that had to happen once we left. |
All the cousins get along so good and it is so fun to watch them spend time with each other!
Merry Christmas
