School Permit Drama

Both Bryce and Caleb have now passed the written portion of the driver's test and now just need to take to actual driving part. Lincoln is a bit intimidating to drive in and we don't practice driving in Lincoln very often. So far, we have practiced driving to and from school and in the country. We decided to take them to Wilbur to do the driving portion of the test. They had both failed once when Robb took them, so I was assigned this super fun task for the day. Going into the test Bryce kept saying he wasn't ready but if Caleb could just pass then Caleb could take him to and from basketball. To be honest this is also what Robb and I thought would happen. Caleb drives so much more and overall is a more confident driver.
We got to Wilbur, and I let each kid take a turn driving around for a couple minutes and then we checked into the courthouse. Bryce drove first and when he comes back, he is grinning ear to ear. He had passed! I was super excited because I thought if Bryce could pass then surely Caleb would pass. When Caleb came back in, he looked angry and upset. He did not pass. He had turned into the wrong lane and some other small mistake. Let me tell you what a terrible and tense drive it was back to Roca! Bryce was excited and Caleb was mad at the world, and I had to be happy for Bryce but not too happy because I had to be sensitive to the fact that Caleb was really upset.
When we got back to our house Bryce asked to drive to school. Caleb was super crabby about this and didn't want him to drive the pickup even though it was decided that the pickup was their together truck until they were 16. Finally, after some arguing they were headed to school. Thank God we have the Life 360 App on our phones where you can watch their entire drive, know where they are and how fast they are going. I watched this all the way to school. When they were in the parking lot, I could tell that they must be trying to park because it would say they were going 2 mph and 3 mph and 1 mph. Finally, after it did this for an extended amount of time, I called Bryce. Bryce sounded panicked on the phone, and he just told me to come. I was super confused, but I was worried he had hit a car, so I got in the van and headed to Norris. On my way I get a phone call from Caleb. He is yelling into the phone that his can't be his problem and he is going inside. The next call from Bryce is him asking when I would be there and that he couldn't get the pickup parked and Caleb wouldn't help him. When I arrived at the school, I saw that Bryce had attempted to poorly park their beat-up old pickup in the middle school teacher lot and was too close on one side and about sideways in the spot. I parked the van, got in the pickup, backed up and pulled forward to park. Bryce was then ticked because I had made him look stupid by making it look easy. I was not winning here. At that point I decided to move the truck to a spot where I could back it in so that I didn't have to come back after school to pull the truck out of the spot. I guess we need a lot more practice with parking. But now I have a funny story to tell Bryce forever.
