Spring brings Tornado weather

Living in the country always makes me a little more nervous when it comes to tornado season. It seems like the out lying areas get hit far more frequently than in town. The girls and I had just got home from recital hair practice day and the weather was starting to look a little ominous but it wasn't raining yet. When we got out of the car the sirens were going off and the kids hit the basement hidey hole with snacks, ipads, blankets and the pets. Robb and I did the adult thing and stood outside to watch the weather. Since I was outside taking a few pictures of the crazy clouds I thought I might as well get a few of our landscaping progress too.

At about this point Robb and I also headed to the basement. We got extremely high wind and a downpour. The entire time we were in the basement I was getting text messages from Steph who was at work. She was watching the radar and was worried about us. That night "out of town" faired far better an " in  town". Our old neighborhood got hit hard with a tornado touching down by Lee's Chicken and C&L Dairy Sweet. No one was hurt but our favorite little ice-cream store that had lemon ice-cream had been leveled and all the windows busted out of Lee's Chicken. Not to mention trees with the tops taken off and houses with pieces of the siding gone and damage from hail.
