In the end, we settled on a black suit for Bryce, and he plans to order blue suede shoes (because why not?) and grab a bowtie online. We did agree on the white shirt, though.
While Bryce had some idea of what he wanted, Caleb left it all up to Emsud. Caleb likes to give him free rein to outfit him however he sees fit. This didn’t work out quite as smoothly this time, though, because it’s a family-run business, and Emsud’s wife had just had knee surgery, which she’s usually a big part of the operation. Their daughter-in-law was also missing because she was home taking care of her mom. Despite that, they were still super nice and helpful, but they didn’t have the time to devote like they usually do.
To make the whole thing even funnier, Tasha and Ezra showed up to pick out prom clothes too. Between prom and weddings, the place was packed. While we waited, Caleb wandered off and found expensive golf clothes he suddenly wanted instead. Sorry, bud, but no, we’re not buying cashmere for you to golf in. Eventually, Caleb did find his prom attire. He insisted on a ‘slicky’ shirt, not a ‘crinkly’ one. We ended up with a navy suit and a slick shirt that looked great underneath. He didn’t have to match a date because, as he put it, ‘ain’t no one got time for that.’ We dubbed his look ‘bachelor chic.’
Well, $750 later, our boys will look spiffy in clothes they didn’t even want in the first place."
