Abby switched dance studios this year to be closer to our new house. She danced at Motions this year. It was a change from the other studio in many ways. By the time we signed up the only class left for her and Addison was the Saturday class. This class was 30min of Ballet, 30min of Tap and 45 min of Jazz. It was nice that Jazz was the longest because that is what they both like the most. They danced from 11-12:45.By the end they were sweaty and exhausted. This class was originally a 3/4 grade class but they didn't have any 4th graders sign up so it became a 2/3 grade class. The difficulty level had greatly increased this year from last year plus they had 3 dances in the recital instead of just 2. It was nice that parents were welcome to watch this year and take video so that we could practice at home (something Abby was never very willing to do). Abby is a little hard to figure out sometimes and it was hard to tell if she really loves dance or just really like spending time with her best friend Addison. Either way she did great in the recital.
For the recital the girls had Saturday practice for 3 different weekends for 4 hours at a time. They also had to be at practice on Friday from 4-9 and from Saturday from 8-12. It was a long and fun weekend. The girls didn't complain a bit. They loved reapplying their makeup and playing games with all the girls in their class in between rehearsals. It was great that they had a class of 7 kids. I helped backstage for practice and for the second show. It was funny that we started out with girls changing behind towels and curtains and by the second show everyone was ripping off costumes and letting any mom available help them get into their next one.

I will probably look back on this post and think this is funny but at the time it was not. I had asked Emmy over and over again if she wanted to go to the recital. I had actually decided that she wasn't going to go but then felt bad and she had promised with her whole heart that she would be good. Guess what...She was terrible! Surprise surprise. We were sitting on the edge right by the video camera so I was worried that her talking was going to end up on the video. She also wouldn't sit down and was going between Susie and I constantly. Either way it was really fun to see Abby on stage.

| Aunt Steph made the drive to see her dance. |
| Thanks for coming and bringing much needed snacks! |
This girl was loaded down with flowers. She was lucky to have so many people come to watch her.
| Grammy Hansen got to come watch. |
| Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming! |
Even Bryce, Caleb and Brook were there to watch.

Emily was Abby's Ballet and Tap teacher. You really couldn't meet a sweeter person!
The ballet dance was a lyrical dance to the song One is the Loneliest Number
Lauren was their Jazz teacher. This was her first year but she did a great job with them.
The Jazz dance was my favorite and it was to the pop song I Feel Like 17.

| The tap dance was to 5150 the country song. |
| Sydney was their student helper. She was the right mix of no nonsense and fun. |
