Freeman School Fieldtrip

I think I was more excited for this school trip than the boys. In 4th grade they learn Nebraska history which I find more interesting than most history so it was fun helping them do homework and study for these tests. Maybe it was just because it was actually stuff I remembered! So at the end of the year they go to Beatrice to the Freeman School which is a little one room school house like back in the day. They have to dress similar to back then so they wore jeans, button up shirts and boots (aka church shoes). They thought this was pretty dressy for school. It wasn't quite as comfy as athletic pants and a t-shirt. The other thing they have to do is pack a lunch that only includes foods that would have been an option and they had to wrap them in wax paper and take them in a metal pail.
Caleb looked at the list of suggested foods and thought that he needed all of them. They packed a interesting lunch to say the least. They had a ham sandwich, corn bread muffin, chocolate chip cookies, beef jerky and probably more.
The teacher for the Freeman school was pretty authentic and made the kids a little nervous with her stern voice and smacking her ruler around.

This is probably the straightest these 2 have ever sat in class.

It was fun to see how they interacted with their classmates.

The 4th grade class all dressed in pioneer clothing.
