Gardening Take 1

I have been wanting to plant a garden since we moved in so this year was my chance. Robb had given fair warning that he wouldn't have time to help with it this year so if I did it, it was all my project. I got the kids to help me for a little bit. He had someone come out and till the spot to get it all ready for us.
My gardening helpers all ready to help!

We made our rows and planted a little bit of everything. Beans, carrots, radishes, onions, cabbage, broccoli (or so I thought, turns out it was another pack of cabbage), peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini and cucumbers. Whew lots and lots of stuff.

Emmy was pretty excited to help but we had to watch her spacing, she dumped the entire pack of flower seeds in 1 hole and covered it up. Abby liked planting the seeds too.
Bryce helped me make semi straight lines to follow. Caleb helped for a little bit but got bored following the rules of planting. He went off to mow which he has become an expert at.

The finished product. Lets just hope something grows.

Robb, Bob and Andy spent an entire weekend from sun up to sundown putting in a sprinkler system for us. This was a project that we have went back and forth on but ultimately decided to do. Robb rented a pipe puller and a mini excavator for the project. They worked long and hard and after some initial problems they got all the pipe in. Huge thanks to Bob and Andy for helping with a not very fun project! Now Robb has been working with his head lamp late late into the night to try to get all the sprinklers wired together so that he can turn them on from his phone. Technology is great. I wish I would have taken pictures of them working but I didn't.
So once the sprinklers were in and wired Robb bought seed and we were going to seed the yard. Robb and Caleb had spent countless hours prepping the soil by dragging this pioneer day looking mini plow over it. Robb had been working on throwing out seed by hand a little bit at a time. Then one night I went out with a friend for supper and when I got home he was there waiting with 5 gallon buckets of seed. I guess he had looked at the weather forecast and it was suppose to rain for like the next 10 days to we had to get the seed out that night. I think I probably laughed at him because I thought he was joking. Turns out he wasn't so there we are, him with his trusty headlamp on and me with a flashlight throwing out seed like crazy people at 11:00 at night. At one point he told me that my side wasn't looking very even, I laughed and told him I was 2 margaritas in for the evening and it was past my bedtime. Turns out he could live with my side being a little uneven. I had to put this little blurb in here because I really hope that we can look back in 10 years and have a lush lawn and laugh at this. Not sure that will be the case but a girl can hope right?
