I always love unpacking all the ornaments every year! Each of our ornaments has sentimental value and although we might save some interesting homemade ornaments they mean more to me than ornaments that you could buy. This year it was especially fun seeing Emerson's eyes light up when we got out the Christmas lights and the singing ornaments. They kids also look forward to finding their special ornaments from past years to put on the tree.
Caleb, Abby and Emerson unpacking ornaments.
Emerson thought it was fun to rip up all the paper and try to eat it.
The big kids are getting better at decorating and the bottom branches were no longer the only ones decorated.
I feel terrible because Bryce isn't in any of these pictures! This could be and entire post by itself but I don't have time for that! 8 has been a rough year for Bryce and Caleb but more so for Bryce. I think they are trying to find a balance between independence and still being part of the family. Friends are super important to them all of a sudden which is great but the trade off to that in their head is that family is super uncool. We are trying to strike a balance between family being fun and cool and friends being important but right now we haven't mastered that. So.... it ends up with Bryce being so darn naughty that I don't have any option to send him to his room. I think he thinks I enjoy punishing him but little does he know it completely breaks my heart to not have him participate in something like decorating the tree. So Bryce when you are reading this someday when you are older and you wonder why you didn't get to help.
Ask me about the big, giant, blow up,fit that put your dad and I over the edge and got you sent to your room on Christmas tree decorating night. Love ya Buddy but you give us a run for our money!
