Sickness hits our House (Nov 14)

There is never a good time for the kids to get sick but it always seems like illness hits our house at the worst possible times. Emmy had been little crabby and all of a sudden her constipation problems were replaced with a completely different problem. The poor little girl was having huge diarrhea diapers multiple times a day. After a couple days of her not feeling well I finally decided to take her in because we were needing to go back to Norfolk that weekend. Steph and I were hosting Courtney's baby shower. By the time I took her into see Dr, David she was already on the verge of being dehydrated and her lab work didn't look very good. I forget just how fast little ones can get dehydrated and she was still nursing good but was just losing more than she was getting, I guess. We went home and pushed and pushed and pushed fluids for the next 12 hours and called him back with a report in the morning. He was alright with waiting another day to see how she was doing so we again pushed fluids around the clock. After 4 days of a sad and sick baby it seemed like she was turning the corner and starting to feel better. Then.... Poor Abby got hit next. We had decided to run some errands and she said she didn't want to go but by the time we got there she was sobbing that her tummy hurt and that she was going to throw up. Ugh the stomach flu is the worst!

We ended up taking everyone to Norfolk even though we were probably a walking germ factory. Abby felt crummy for the next couple days and ran a slight fever overnight but mostly had terrible stomach cramps at night. Steph and I managed to pull off hosting a really nice baby shower for Mitch and Courtney even though we each had about a million things on our plate at the time. This is where the poor timing of the sickness comes in. Draven was getting his ICD placed the next day and I had planned to be there. It has been in the plans for many years for him to get a device, it was just the question of when and I had always promised Steph that I would be there with her and him when that day came. Well 4 kids later and 2 that were sick I had to break my promise to my sis and it broke my heart that I couldn't be there for them, but he did amazing and we have a great family so it wasn't like they were alone. About 6 people accompanied him to Iowa City for his surgery and the rest of us were praying the entire time.

Still looking pretty cute even though she is sick.
