Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my very favorite holidays! Don't get me wrong I love Christmas too but Thanksgiving comes with a fraction of the work that Christmas does and it is celebrating something that we should celebrate more often. I have so much to be thankful for and in the craziness of my life I often forget just how lucky I am... I have a wonderful husband, 4 beautiful, healthy kids, incredible family support, a nice house, a job that I enjoy, plenty of food and my health. This is so much more than so many people and yet I get caught up and stressed by the little wrenches that life throws at me sometimes.
This Thanksgiving I was on call for my new job in Endoscopy from Wednesday at 3:30 until Monday at 7:00am. I have been dreading this since I started this job. There is always the option to phone a friend but this was the first time that I was going to be the main RN in charge for multiple days. I just wanted to make sure things went off without a hitch when most of the responsibility fell on my shoulders. Jen was the surgical tech that was on with me and not only is she really good at her job she was also willing to help me trouble shoot any problems that came up which I was really thankful for. We were lucky enough to not have to go into work on Thanksgiving day but we went in multiple times every other day. We were both ready for our call shift to be over when Monday came. Since we were on call for the entire holiday it wasn't possible for us to go back to Norfolk for the holiday like we usually do. It was odd not spending Thanksgiving with our family but it was nice and relaxing to stay at home and we just made the best of the situation.

We decided to go ahead and make a traditional Thanksgiving feast for our little family at our house. The kids had fun each helping with a side dish. They were all very proud of what they made. I made an apple pie and Robb made a turkey on his green egg grill. He narrowly escaped disaster with his turkey grilling, the grill was really hot and when he lifted the lid flames shot up and he singed off all of his arm hair, most of his eyebrows and some his hair in the front. I love him but he stunk like burnt hair for the rest of the day.

I love these cuties to the moon and back. We really couldn't have a greater group of kids.

Happy 1st Thanksgiving Emerson.

She is ready for some delicious food.

Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours.
